    Internet Movie Database (IMDb) Structure...

Hi... I am a newbie to this site... I need to know some information about IMDb regarding my project... What is the structure of IMDb database (movie database)? When we search for a movie title, how does IMDb accesses its database to give the results? I really need to know about it asap...

Note: If this is not the forum I should be asking this question, can you please inform me where I should be posting this thread? I really need to know the answer to this question... Its very important for my project...

Well, if you review the IMDB documenation, it should give you the table structure.

And, yes, since this is an application type question, As you can download IMDB data and import it into ANY database) this post should be in the database concepts and design forum... I'll move it.

    Thank You for moving it...
But I do not need to download or import the IMDb data to any database... I just need to know how the IMDb accesses its database when a query for a movie title has been made... Also, I need to know the structure of the IMDb database...
Basically, I need to compare that with my database... I dont need to download or import the IMDb data...

I'm guessing that if you download the table documentation, you would have a better chance of understanding what IMDB does with it.

The database is in plain text format. So you can use the COPY command to import them:

PostgreSQL: Documentation: Manuals: PostgreSQL 9.0: COPY

As you have not specified your DBMS, I simply assumed you are using PostgreSQL
