Unanswered: How to repair broken ownership chain.

    All,

I need to fix broken ownership chains in my DB so that I can grant SELECT on views w/o having to grant SELECT on underlying tables.

I tried setting the DBO on both the view database and the tables database (they're different databases).

But that didn't seem to do it.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    I'm running SQL 2000.

    Thanks,

    Bovas

how come you've got one database for data and another for views?

That's how it came to us from the vendor (who is no longer in business unfortunately).

Maybe "fortunately" would be more correct if that was their design approach!

Since they are out of business, you can do more or less what you like then - there will be no further developments and no support contracts to screw up. Can you script out all views in the "View" database and execute on the "Data" database?
