We have been using a third party data loading utility called Optiload. Unfortunately support for it will be discontinued with version 9 of DB2. One of it's features was that it could do updates much like import can but nearly as fast as the loader. To replace it we are loading the data file to a staging table and then using a merge statement to update rows in the main claims table. This works most of the time except when the data file has multiple rows that have the same primary key but different column values. Merge fails when this is the case. We are not trying to put the dups in an exception table and run an SQL update against those rows in the exception table. This also fails when multiple rows exist in the table with the same primary key. Is there any loading utility that can support an insert with update like import but faster? Any other ideas?
