    Unanswered: Login Issue

    hey Guys,
    I am running SQL Server 2008 on vista machine.. i gave access to login in to my instance for other person in the network.. it is giving problem like this..

    "A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible."

    she was able to ping my machine.. but couldn't connect to SQL..

    I don't know where the setting is in SQL 2008, but in SQL 2005 you use the Surface Area Configuration Manager to allow remote connections. Have you set this?

    Is this SQL Server Express?
    What does this return:

    It is not SQL Express..
    THe code is returning the name of my instance: SLIM\Karthik.

    How come you didn't go for the default instance name?
    Anyway, is she defo trying to connect to the instance name and not the server name?
