Unanswered: How to fore integrity with linked table?

    Hello all

I am trying to set up a database where I am linking to a dbf table (which is part of an ESRI shapefile)

There is a field in that table which is basically the site name (SITE_NAME) that I want to set as the primary key so that additional tables are related to this table via the site name field and integrity of the site names is maintained.

However, since it is a linked table, access won't let me establish a primary key.

    Any suggestions?

You won't be able to create relationships to a linked table either. It's just a link. It has no properties. No fields. No data. Just a link.

Import a copy of the linked table into Access and modify it then?

Modify the table at the source program?

Not sure what else I can offer as help.
