I finished my university degree in IT about a year ago, and since then it’s been an uphill struggle to get a role as a junior database developer. At first I kept my skills generic and didn’t focus on a specific platform.
Currently I work part-time as a support tech, the business I work for is small and doesn’t really have a strong database department (just MS access really). Now though I am thinking about either getting a cert for Microsoft Sql server or Oracle to help me land a role in database dev.
My question is: do you think it would be easier for me (as a junior) to get employed working on a Sql Server platform or an Oracle one?
My guess is that Sql server would be easier as it tends to be used for smaller/medium sized operations whilst Oracle is for larger organisations that require more experienced developers.
