    Unanswered: import xls to oracle db

    Please tell me how I could import xls files to Oracle 10g db.

    One way would be to save your file in a CSV (comma separated values) format and then either load it by SQL*Loader or use this file as an external table.

    ODBC. We usually load the Excel data into MSAccess, link an Oracle table into MSAccess using ODBC, and then run an append query in MSaccess to load the data.

    To note, we only do this for one-time loads, since it's quick & easy, but it's no enterprise sol'n. If this is a recurring need, we usually set up an external table, and then run a "insert into <table> select * from <external table>".
