I want to connect from a Windows to an Informix database on a Linux server through ODBC, but I encounter error messages (connection failed)
I know that only 3 parameters which are important:
*the port or service: 6580 (this is the service that exists in / etc / services and also in sqlhost)
* The IP address of the server: I give him the exact address of the server
* the database server name (INFORMIXSERVER)
Otherwise, I master, I give the good parameter.
What is surprising is that I try on my development server and it works very well, but on the production server it does not.
Does someone can tell me the different probabilities ?
I doubt that this is a problem with the service, but do you think?
I count on your help
thank you very much
i'm sorry for my bad english
I do not know exactly the difference , but I know there is a liscence of development and another liscence of production.
I am a beginner in the informix IDS world , can you explain me what's the difference in relation with the ODBC connection?
thank you very much
What do you mean by "liscence"?
I'm asking you on differences like operating system etc.
The operating systems on the development and production server are the same? And the same question for the configuration of IDS on the devel and production system.
What kind of client are you using to connect to the database?
If something works on one system and do not work on another, you should find out the differences to make things work.
OS installed on the production server is the same on my server for development, the difference is in the liscence IDS installed, but whatever the liscence, the ODBC connection is based on 3 parameters:
1. ip address
1. IP address is the address to which we connect to server
2. the server name is the name assigned to the variable $ INFORMIXSERVER
3. service is the connection port that exists in / etc / services and / etc / sqlhosts(6580)
the client used for connection
TUN EMULE for Windows 32bits (ESKER)
connection with TUN EMULE is very simple, it is to connect to a session of the OS only, interrogation of data was made by the 4j's
the same version of IDS that is installed on both servers (IDS 10).
