Unanswered: Application Icon & Status Bar Qs

I have a database that has a splash screen when first loaded. The code behind this form does various things like automatically logging the user into a table, and various other actions. However, although I have set an application icon, and have unticked the Display Status Bar tickbox in the Tools > Startup screen, the custom application icon does not replace the default Access icon until the splash screen has finished processing. Same with the Status Bar, it does not disappear until the splash screen has finished processing. Is there any way round these issues?

As far as I am aware, it's not default behaviour so perhaps there is something about your splash screen that is doing this?
