    Unanswered: shutdown for cold backup not working !!

    Hello,
    I use oracle 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production.
    I have daily cold backup for my oracle databese.
    Yesterday (this is the second time in this month) i got error while shutting down the database.

    Code:
    ##########################################
    Shutting down DB: MyProdDB- START
    Current time:Wed Jun 17 01:45:04 USAST 2009
    ##########################################

    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.4.0 -
    Production on Wed Jun 17 01:45:04 2009
    Copyright (c) 1982, 2007, Oracle. All Rights Reserved.

    SQL> Connected.
    SQL> ORA-01013: user requested cancel of current operation
    SQL> Disconnected from Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options
    I know that this problem caused by open sessions that users left when they go home (we have a lot of users).

    In my shutdown script i use "shutdown immediate", and gose like this:

    Code:
    conn username/pass as sysdba
    shutdown immediate
    exit
    How can i slove this problem [ORA-01013] ?

    Thanks.

    Did you press CTRL-C to interrupt the shutdown? ORA-01013 is an informational error that said the user did something to interrupt the process or (rarely) a timeout of a watch dog timer occurred.

    What OS?

    If you are scripting this in Linux, the way we do it is:

    PHP Code:
    #!/bin/sh

    export ORACLE_SID=orcl
    sqlplus
    /nolog << EOF log_file.txt

    / as sysdba
    shutdown immediate
    ;

    EOF
