    Unanswered: VLOOKUP Problem

    Hey,
I am trying to do a VLOOKUP between two seperate workbooks, one has a column of cert numbers and a column that is to be filled with the vlookup. My other workbook has 30+ columns, the first column is the one that also contains cert numbers.

When I do the VLOOKUP, I select everything correctly but somehow it returns N/A to me for 3/4 of the info and I get the other 1/4.

I have checked the numbers that return N/A and if I do a search for it in the workbook, it appears. So why is the VLOOKUP not returning a value?

    Thanks,
    CT

Even though it's working now, it might change its mind later.

Silly question, but are the data types the same in both workbooks? I think I've had issues in the past when a VLOOKUP function is looking for a number in a table of text values...

Yes, that was exactly what the problem was.

I said it decided to work because I received aid on it and we figured out that was the problem.

Sorry for not being any more clear.

    No worries!
At least now anyone else searching for the same thing will see the possible solution.
