    Unanswered: recovering to different location wiht rman cold backup

    Hi all,

    I have rman cold backup and want to restore to differnet host with different filesystem. Firstly is it possible ?? If yes, how ??

    Perosnally, i have tried, but it doesnt not allow to rename the datafiles in mount state.

    Thanks, further I want to ask firstly, I am testing rman cold backup on test server, so no DR is created. Secondly, right now I ahve already resotred controlfile from backup, so now how can i use db_file_name_convert ?? can u give an example ??

    my question is wihtout using duplicate command, how can i rename my datafiles to recover from rman cold backup ?? I tried with set new name.. command but it doesnt work, just give light on this plz ???

    you can use db_file_name _convert command after restoring controlfile.

    Other way is to use set newname ...

    It is not wokring means do u get any error.

    did u try to run set newname and restore in same run block ?

    Hey guys, finally resotred successfully. I have used set newname command to rename file to differnet location.
