Unanswered: SSAS: Copying Dimensions in SSAS for role playing dimensions.
I have a time dimension table defined in my data warehouse and have created several instances of this in my DSV using Named Queries.
I have a dimension defined with all the hierarchies and attribute relationships that I want.
My question is; How can I create copies of this "template" dimension and change the data source to each of the Named Queries? It seems that SSAS uses internal identifiers for each Named query and attribute and I risk screwing up the dimension by manually changing the dimension XML.
Role playing dimensions must be a common enough requirement. What is the best way to deal with this so that it's not a nightmare to maintain when a shared dimension changes?
