    Unanswered: Connect Time out

    Dear all,

I needed an assistance in resolving a connection issue:

    Platform : Win2003 R2
    Database :Oracle 10g R2

    Issue is:

Whenever I launch my PL/SQL to connect to my database it takes a long time and times out with the following error message:

    ORA-12170: TNS: connect timeout occured

This happens when I assign Gatway IP Address to my PC in order to have internet access concurrently

However, whenever I remove the internet Gateway Address, PL/SQL is able to connect within split seconds to the database.

TNS and Listerner configurations have been checked thoroughly and I don't not think the error has to do with the TNS configuration.

I would therefore like to find out what it the course of this and if there is way to resolve this challenge inorder to be able to connect to internet and database simultanuously

    Any assistance is much welcome

    Thanks in Advance

    Fo Kwame

This has nothing to do with Oracle - it is a network configuration issue. You need to create a static route to your Oracle server. You should speak with your network administrator.
"It does not work" is not a valid problem statement.

    Hi Nick Ivanov,

Am most grateful for your advise. I searched on how to do static IP route on windows and the issue is resolved.

    This is what I did:

opened the file -- C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\lmhost and
    add the following line below:

    <IP_Address_of_Server> <sever_name> #PRE

    Im once again very grateful
    Much Thanks
