    Unanswered: Schemas comparison and Sync DDLs generation command-line script/tool

    Hi All,

    We are maintaining two schemas on the same databases, one for dev and other for test; the changes made on the dev schema are done quite frequently and wanted to push the DDL changes from dev to test on weekly basis without any human intervention, preferably through command-line.

    One typical example is:
    DEV:
    A table exists with following signature:
    CREATE TABLE TEST (
    colTest INT,
    ColTest2 VARCHAR2(250),
    ColTest3 CHAR(1)
    );

    TEST:
    The same table exists with following signatures:
    A table exists with following signature:
    CREATE TABLE TEST (
    colTest INT,
    ColTest2 VARCHAR2(50)
    );

    We need a tool/script which is kicked off through command-line to compare these two schemas, generate the following DDL synch script for example:-

    Alter table TEST add (colTEST3 CHAR(1));
    alter table TEST modify (colTEST2 VARCHAR2(250));

    I know TOAD can be used to compare these two schemas and to generate the sync DDL, which require human intervention to choose-generate-copy-and-apply procedure but we want to avoid human intervention. Wondering if anyone had any chance using any existing tool/script for this specific requirement?

    Any help/guidance will be highly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Cool Grid Control

    Using Grid Control:

    Select target db -> Administration -> Change Management -> Dictionary Comparisons ... and create/schedule a job.

    The person who says it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it. -- Chinese proverb
