    Unanswered: Recover lost database

    Hi all,

    i'm new to postgreSQL and using windows os.

    i've deleted my db without keeping it's back up

    can anybody tell me how to get that db back?is anything there like autoback up in postgreSQL?if it is there then please describe the procedure to get my lost data with this auto backup facility.

    please help me!!!

    desperately waiting for any reply..

    The help would be appticiated..

    I'm afraid you are out of luck.
    The only thing I can think of, is that maybe the files are still in the Windows recycle bin. If they are not there, then they are lost forever.

    well,it was not as important and will take an hour 2 regain it by again doing my previous job.

    Don't forget to take a backup immediately after that

    For a backup do not copy the data directory unless Postgres is not running!
    If you copy the data directory while the server is running you will get an inconsistent copy which will not be usable.

    If you cannot stop the Postgres server, check out the manual on how to do a backup from a running Postgres server:
