Unanswered: DB2 data export for DW reasons

    Hi guys!

Sorry for my poor understanding for db2/400 as you will see :-)

The case is that i want to export data from an as/400 database holding our erp (JDEdwards) data, preferably in .csv format and then zip these data in order to take them by FTP (maybe) to our HQ in another country in order to be imported in an MS SQL2008 server which will maintain the DW.

And i want to automate this task in the as/400 with as much as error checking as possible.

The reason that i do not use directly SSIS from MS SQL is the inadequate speed of our VPN.

I would appreciate if somebody shows me the correct direction to this.

    Elias

take somewhere a windows station with db2 client installed
make a script file to connect - export data - ftp - connect sql/server - import
schedule this with at or any other tool

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.
