    Unanswered: can you open a .pdf file with MS SQL like you can with images?

    Hi all, how are you?

    As the heading says really, I was wondering if you can open .pdf documents like you can with images?

    any info would be great thanks

    Well, strictly speaking, SQL Server does not open image files. it can store them, but it does not open them. You can store PDF files in a database, but there is a range of opinion as to whether you should or not.

    Hi thanks for the reply.

    Yeah that was what i meant, does it have the ability to store them like what you can do with images? That recordset option thing ? sorry for poor terminology, im still learning (have been trown in the deep end).

    Why the range of opinions? generally not thought of as good for the database or something?
