The Database Administrator Category includes all levels of skills from supporting the TeamPlay® application with data input to very sophisticated DBA support of databases like Oracle. The duties may include any of the following: Review, develop, and design data models using standard diagramming techniques, in conjunction with application development teams; create logical data models and translate into physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed database structures. Monitor relational databases to optimize database performance, resource use, and physical implementations of databases; address a variety of database integration issues including migration between disparate databases, integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new applications. Maintain development, test and production RDBMS environments. Monitor and maintain database security and database software, in cooperation with ISSMs. Provide advice to applications programmers in the effective use of database languages; advise on troubleshooting, exception processing needs and other data management issues. Maintain availability and integrity of databases through multiple access schemes; facilitate sharing of common data by overseeing proper key and index management and data dictionary maintenance. May evaluate and recommend testing and evaluation of new procedures, software, and hardware. Monitor and manage database backups, logs, and journals; install, maintain, and upgrade database software; restore and/or recover data as required. Create, procure and maintain various database related documents such as manuals and programmers' handbooks. May provide 24-hour on-call support. Responsible for coordinating with various project teams to provide input during project design and development to ensure that i2S produces quality products. Works with Senior Technologists to provide technical guidance to both Project Managers and other applications developers during the development process. Level 3 duties may include some data entry, as well as data analysis and the ability to run complex queries in databases. The DBA may maintain the GUIs, thus SQL and Oracle may be useful. Summary of On-site Project Description: Looking for a hands on database expert to provide guidance, oversight, engineering, architecture, design and configuration support. Responsible for planning, implementation, configuration, and administration of Oracle, Sybase and mySQL relational database management systems (DBMS), i.e. Oracle 9, 10, 11 and enhancements; Assist in establishing requirements and evaluate alternatives; Be proactive in database design and creation; Perform capacity planning to include backup/recovery; Develop procedures for integrity and quality of the database data; Facilitate changes to the DBMS structure; Seek enterprise wide solutions; Define enterprise standards; Provide configuration control; Maintain documentation; perform development, testing, migration and maintenance; managing object metadata, access control information, audit information, establishment and maintenance of the data dictionary, other related data, and possibly the object themselves; generate DBMS performance reports; and support the preparation of cost and schedule estimates.
