Unanswered: New DBA ? - Hardening SQL Server Instances

I was given an internal document that refers to hardening of existing instances of SQL Server 2005 on company servers.

What is hardening (security ??)? How do I get started on this task.

Yes, I'm new to DBA'ing. I have 10-15 years of Web development and architecture (ASP, and .NET) and was lucky to land a SS DBA/ SP Admin pos. on full-time basis at a lower salary from what I'm used to.

I'll keep my eyes on this Forum. Any other suggestions for newbies to the DBA world like myself.

Zee1, You are correct that 'Hardening' refers to making the SQL Server more secure. Your best bet is to do a Google search on "SQL Server 2005 Hardening Guidelines" or "SQL Server Hardening Best Practices".
