Smile Unanswered: Connecting to an accessDB file on a computer behind a firewall

    Hello everyone.

I think someone will have an answer for my question.

I have a computer with a .mdb access database file on it.
What do I have to do to get access to the .mdb file from the Internet?
The computer is connected to the Internet behind a firewall.

That i want to do is access the file and retrieve data from it through a phpdriven webbpage.

Does anyone have any steps i can follow?

I suggest you look into remote access --- terminal services for example.

If you find something simpler, please let me know!

access/jet is a file so the file needs to be visible behind the firewall.
how you do that is up to you and your network trolls. personally unless your db is read only I think you are asking for trouble by using JET as a datastroe visible to internet clients.

in my books it would be far smarter to have a web front end connected to a server backend.
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
