    Unanswered: Need to move ibd file to different drive.

    We've run out of space on our drive, and need to move a ibd file to a different drive.
    This file is for a single table.
    Looking in the documentation, it is unclear to me whether I should use RENAME, or ALTER TABLE, and exactly what the syntax should be to specify the new drive and directory.
    The documentation also referred to the path being specified in a my.cnf file, but I can find no such file on our drives.
    Any assistance in the best method of moving this file would be appreciated.
    If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

    Apparently there was no way to do this, so we ended up moving the entire database. On Windows:
    1) Stop the MySQL service
    2) Move the data folder from
    X:\OriginalLocation\data\
    to
    Y:\NewLocation\data\
    3) Add this line to my.ini
    datadir=Y:\NewLocation\data\
    4) Restart the MySQL service
    If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.
