    Unanswered: Oracle View

I don't know much about Oracle, but it is possible to create a view in a commercial Oracle application if I have a username/password for the application?

It depends upon whether or not you (schema/username) has privilege to CREATE VIEW or not; if no privilege, then no view.

    Thanks anacedent.

I thought this may be true. I am only a user, so probably don't have the privileges needed.

Thanks so much for your help!

    Thanks.

I ran this and got "no rows selected." That means a big NO, right?

    Code:
    SQL> select * from session_privs where privilege like '%VIEW%';

    PRIVILEGE
    ----------------------------------------
    CREATE VIEW
    CREATE ANY VIEW
    DROP ANY VIEW
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW
    CREATE ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW
    ALTER ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW
    DROP ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW
    UNDER ANY VIEW
    MERGE ANY VIEW

    9 rows selected.
I ran SQL above from highly privileged schema.
You should make sure you have access to your own sandbox DB
so you can run tests isolated from other DBs.
