    Unanswered: newbie db2 and centura

Hi.I'm starting a new project and we are developing gupta centura applications with DB2.
Question:can anyone tell how many db2 authentication methods do i have to authenticate a gupta application user when logging to db2 server?
    Does the password travels unencrypted?
Can I use a proxy user?

    Thank you

Three authentication methods that are included: OS (default), LDAP, and Kerberos. You can roll your own plug-in too. Password encryption is supported in recent versions of DB2 (I think beginning with 8.2), but you have to configure it.

Does this mean that by default previous versions of DB2 v.8.2 don't encrypt password while authenticating?

Not sure I understand the question. I can only rephrase what I said earlier: Password encryption is supported beginning with 8.2, but is not configured by default. You need to change the instance configuration to enable it. Obviously, it requires client-side support as well, which is provided by the DB2 drivers of the matching version.
