Unanswered: Error 3314 from Maine Form when using subform

When I try to create multiple records in a subform, Error 3314 pops up saying that I need to populate a required field in the Main Form. I want this field to remain required, but I do not know how to keep adding records to the subform.

P.S. I do not know programming language, so please keep the lingo gentle

    Many thanks, Ian

Difficult to say without seeing your setup. I'm "guessing" that the ID relational field in the subform perhaps doesn't have the default value set to =Forms!MyMainForm!MyIDFieldName.

I will usually put the relational ID field on the subform and set it's default value to equal the ID field in the Main form.

Of course, it could be an error related only to the main form and have nothing to do with the subform (perhaps it can't save the record on the Main form due to a required field) and hence, there is no record to link to for the subforms.

Could you explain a little more about how/when your getting the error and on what field?

Thank you - that led me to the solution!
