Unanswered: SQL 2008 server collation change

I've got a 64-bit clustered Windows Server 2008 running a clustered Enterprise SQL 2008. I need to change the server collation.

Does anyone know a way to do this without having to:

    1) Backup the user databases
    2) Reinstall SQL 2008
    3) Restore the backups

    to change the collation?

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.

Sadly, I have only ever done this at a database level.

It may be possible to do a rebuild of the master database (at least I think it was in SQL 2000), but then you are still left with all of the user databases being (likely) left with the old collation. That would, however, only be slightly less scary than a full reinstall on a cluster.
