Angry Unanswered: Unable to modify table ODBC error Incorrect syntax near

    I'm using MSSQL 2000.
I cannot drop a column wit MSSQL Enterprise Manager in a specific database.
This error occurs both to customer's server and to a backup I have installed in my laptop.
This error doesn't occur to the same database that I have installed to other 2 customers.
This error occurs to all datatables, but doesnot occur to Northwind database of the customer server. Therefore it has to do with the database.

    The exact error is:
    'TableName' table
    - Unable to modify table.
ODBC error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Line 2: Incorrect syntax near 'FieldName'.

    Any ideas???

    Best Regards,

    With kind regards . . . . . SQL Server 2000/2005/2012

Grabel's Law: 2 is not equal to 3 -- not even for very large values of 2.
Pat Phelan's Law: 2 very definitely CAN equal 3 -- in at least two programming languages

My guess would be that the compatibility level conflicts with the actual value of the metaname FieldName, but without access to the underlying settings and schema that's only a guess.

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
