I have an active-passive SS05/SP3 clustered on WIN 2003/R2. One SAN LUN is too smal.. where the transaction logs are backed up. Just want to be sure I can offline and delete the LUN from the SQL group, and add back the new one, without bringing sql server down.
I plan to change the maint plan to backup the logs to a different disk first.
using cluster admin console ..
1. offline the SQL dependency, and delete it.
2. Add the new LUN to the cluster (server sysadmins do this)
3. Add LUN to the SQL group
4. online the LUN
Is that all .. am I missing anything? Is it ok to do this with the sql serer running? I assume it is, as it's only a resource used hourly at backup time.
