Can somebody share a script to backup a sybase database for development database without tran log dumps.

    for archive backup
    BACKUP DATABASE TO archive-root
    [ WAIT BEFORE START ]
    [ WAIT AFTER END ]
    [ DBFILE ONLY ]
    [ TRANSACTION LOG ONLY ]
    [ TRANSACTION LOG RENAME [ MATCH ] ]
    [ TRANSACTION LOG TRUNCATE ]
    [ ATTENDED { ON | OFF } ]
[ WITH COMMENT comment string ]
    [ HISTORY { ON | OFF } ]

You can also access the Validate Database wizard from within Sybase Central using any of the following methods
Choosing Tools > Adaptive Server Anywhere 9 > Validate Database.

Right-clicking the database, and choosing Validate Database from the popup menu.

Selecting a database in the left pane, and choosing Validate Database from the File menu

    might be helpful

Backup scripts (in fact all good utility scripts) need to be done properly, with error checking, escalation, emailing results, multi-database or not, take into consideration db_options set for the db, etc. We have them for sale, I cannot post that here.

dump database MY_DB to "/db_dump_area/MY_DB_dump" or
dump database MY_DB to "E:\db_dump_area|MY_DB_dump" if you have windoze.

The above command produces error messages, there is no need to verify the dump file. But if you really want to check the dump file, the method is to create another db and load the dump file into it.
