Unanswered: ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters and LRM-00123: invalid character

    Hi all,

I've installed an Oracle Home 11g.
Now I want to create a new database by using a script, but as soon as it starts, it fails with the following message while running "startup nomount":

In order to create a new database, Oracle should be in nomount state, right ?

    SQL> startup nomount
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
LRM-00123: invalid character 145 found in the input file

Since there is no DB yet, ther's no alert, right ?

Any idea where the problem could be ?

    Thanks in advence.

// *Cause: A character that is invalid was found in the input file.
// *Action: Specify an input file that contains only valid characters.

    There should be alert_<SID>.log file.
