Red face Unanswered: Fast Restore in sybase

I have taken a full backup of a sybase db using cmd
    backup database full to 'path'

& now what i need to do is, to restore this to a new server. therefore I started the server and also created a new db. without using the utility db, I used the db created myself to restore the db with the use of the below cmd.
    restore database 'dbname' from 'source'

the size of the backup db is about 270GB & the restore process took about 2 weeks.

have i done something wrong during the backup & restore process
or is there any way to do this faster....

pls i need a help frm u all....

    Hi,
I guess you are talking about Sybase IQ. What i guess from your problem discription is that either your M/C don't have enough resources or you are not using them properly. It may be possible that you are using the default params.cfg file, if it is then change the file appropriately specially iqtc and iqmc parameters. Restart ur server using this new params.cfg file and then restore the database.
    Hope this will be helpful

    Hi,
These variables are totaly envoirenment dependent. iqtc stands for iq temporary cache and iqmc stands for iq main cache
