    Question Unanswered: Urdu langauge problem

    hi all
    i use oracle 10g database and forms i want to develop a application for urdu language i install urdu keyboard in my pc i write urdu in forms text box correctly and save it when i retreive the data the data is this ????????? plz help me in this regards

    Are you using NVARCHAR2() for the datatype in your table?

    yes i use nvarchar2 and change the nls_language = utf8
    but not working

    I thought I'd try for the low-lying-fruit ... other than that we only use VARCHAR2, so someone else will have to try & take this farther. --=cf

    how to change the character set of oracle forms and as well as the character set of database and what is the correct charater set name which is supported the urdu language i use utf8 but it not working

    Is problem with data storage or with data presentation?


    SELECT ASCIISTR(URDU_STRING) FROM URDU_TABLE;

    Above will display what is stored in DB field as pure ASCII values.
    If these correspond to URDU characters, then data is properly stored in DB
    & problem is with data presentation by client.
    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
