    Unanswered: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "abc"

    This subject is already discussed but I could not find a resolution for my problem, so I have to ask help again.

    What I would like:
    - I put my new PostgreSql DB from my Linux WEB box to another Linux box. Idea is to give access to this new DB from WEB box for one user;
    web_ip_addr- WEB server IP (from where a user comes);
    web_user - a user account for access to the new DB from WEB box
    db_name - a database name

    - to restrict access I added a line in pg_hba.conf

    host db_name web_user web_ip_addr/32 md5

    - I created a role web_user in the new DB from PgAdmin and set a password.

    Mostly I got 'password authentication failed' with md5 method. No problems when the method is trust. Some times it works as supposed but just for couple times. Then it switches back to 'failed' message. I played around with settings but could not solve the problem.

    I would really appreciate if somebody could give some ideas what's wrong.
    Thanks in advance!
