I would appreciate any advice - am I correct in thinking that SQL Server 2008 workgroup edition would be happy enough with thirty clients polling the same table every 10-15 seconds. I have to write an application for thirty clients where data is updated in a datagridview regularly. I expect the table to grow to some 100,000 rows but I could provide another table with just the 200 odd records that I need to collect at each poll.
I hate having to poll the table but client does not want to use any notification type SQL services as had bad experience with them in past. I cannot think of any other way of doing it.
