    Unanswered: reg: DBMS_output.put_line...

    Hi all,

    If I executed following stored procedure in front end say powerbuilder or C#.net (OS: Windows)

    On successfully executing stored procedure what will happens to the message text (i.e. This is test sp), does it gets logged in file on server?

    create or replace procedure test_sp
    begin
    dbms_output.put_line('This is test sp');
    end;

    Similarly,

    If trigger have dbms_output.put_line('This is test sp');
    and on excuting trigger where does this messages text goes.

    Regards,
    Sandeep

    It displays message on the screen.

    If a certain PL/SQL program executes in background instead of, for example, you running it when connected via SQL*Plus, it goes nowhere (i.e. nobody sees it). if you want to know what has happened, consider storing result of the DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE into a table and display its contents in some reporting tool.
