    Unanswered: DB2 v8, load error from IXF

    Dear all,
    I have a problem during data loading:
    I have a table created with following instruction:

    1) import from <table>.ixf of ixf ROWNUM 1 create into <table>;
    2) delete from <table>
    3) load from <table>.ixf of ixf insert into of ixf insert into <table>;

    After third point I obtain follow messages from every row:
    SQL0433N Value "stringstringstringstringstringstringstringstrings tringstring
    " is too long. SQLSTATE=22001

    SQL3185W The previous error occurred while processing data from row "239" of
    the input file.

    I'll enlarge all datatype column, bufferpool, tablespace but I get same errors....have you idea????
    Thank you in advance!
    Fabio

    I would suspect that the source database was not in UNICODE, while the target was, which would cause character strings to exceed their original column widths.

    "It does not work" is not a valid problem statement.

    Hi Nick,
    thank you for your reply.
    In fact, my charset is 1252 (db2codepage) and I do not know what type is its (customer dump). May we know from the IXF file?

    Thank you!

    Examine your load output. When that is gone try loading using a msg file. There you will see the codespages and translations.
    I agree with Nick. As soon as you get diacritical characters (ASCII value > 127) things get risky.

    In msg:

    SQL0311N The length of string host variable number "2" is negative or greater
    than the maximum. SQLSTATE=22501

    SQL3185W The previous error occurred while processing data from row "143" of
    the input file.

    SQL3148W A row from the input file was not inserted into the table. SQLCODE
    "-311" was returned.

    but unfortunately I don't see the source codespages, maybe if I can create an utf-8 database to try..
