Unanswered: Database Desing for Tracking Attendance

    Hello sir,
I am creating student attendance tracking system in asp.net.
With attendance i need to track students attendance every day and want to generate charts with those data.
Charts for Daily Attendance report, Weekly Report, and monthly Report.
For this how to design database in msaccess?

so what have you got so far?

what sort of charts do you need, can they be 'ascii art' or should they be Microsoft Chart embedded charts.
how do you propose to capture the data
what things are important on reporting
do you need to identify those who have missed a lecture
do you need to identify those who have missed lecutrues on a specific frequency (eg the same day each week)

having identified what you need then you can start thinking about what entities /tables / columns you need. naturally this is an interactive process you can develop your data model alongside refining your user requirements.
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton

I am going to generate bar and pie charts
Simply i am going to track presence and absence of student for every day, week, month.
I can track charts with the no. of presence and absence of every student.
But i dont know how to store presence and absence for every student to the correspoding class with the current date, month and year.

ok so what do you think you need to store
how do you break up that information into its individual data elements/data stores
what 'things' do you need to store to meet the user requirements.

Ya see the attached picture, i simply need those things in the picture. Apart from that i also need to track attendance for every week. So what are the fields i need to create in database.
    Thankyou.

OK so lets kick this process off
you need sound grasp of what is required by the user
you need a data model which stores the data you need to support what the users request

so to start your data model off
what do you think you need to store to generate the graph your 'users' need.
you will need, at the very least, something which stores the students name, as you need that one your sample graph.

you need something which identifies what day they should attend school or college
you need something which identifies if they have attended that day or not

.so over to you, start sketching out the entities
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
