Question Unanswered: Good front-end for a SQL 05 based DW?

    Hi All

I'm hoping to get some good product recommendations for a "front-end" to a SQL 2005 based "datawarehouse" we are building.

    A little background...

We have a fairly old & obscure host that is providing the data to our SQL tables...called VISTA. This host contains our financial, sales & inventory information but it's own reporting capabilities are woefully insufficient.

We also have a SQL 2000 based db that holds all of our title information (we are a book publisher).

We hired a SQL consultant that has been working with us for sometime now to get the information from these 2 sources into the aforementioned 2005 DB that we are calling our "datawarehouse."

In the interest of getting financial/inventory information to our business groups now we have thus far been building Excel canned reports via MS Query...a tedious and inflexible process. Additionally it's not suitable for enabling our Sales & other business groups to create their own "ad-hoc" reports...much too steep a learning curve with the need to know querying & Excel macro creation.

What we are looking for is a "front-end" product that will allow staff to more easily access and/and or build reports from data in this SQL DB. Something without too steep a learning curve.

Any suggestions? If you have any questions please ask away and thanks in advance!

I'd think SSRS would be one of the options.
"It does not work" is not a valid problem statement.
