    Unanswered: SQL Server Agent Question

    Through SQL Server Configuration Manager, I am trying to change the SQL Server Agent Log On to "Network Service". Right now it is "Local System", which I believe was the way it was installed.

    I get the popup error:

    "WMI Provider Error - The process terminated unexpectedly [0x8007042b]".

    I have looked all over the web and rebooted after reading this article:

    However, this hasn't fixed the problem. Should note that I am connecting via RDP when making these changes.

    Windows 2003 Server
    SQL Server 2005

    I logged onto another SQL Server on the Network and tried to change the Log On to Network Services and got the same error.

    Not sure.

    Please disregard, I was able to find the answer.

    I had to change the MSSQLSSEVER Service to run under Network Service first and then change the SQL Server Agent to log on as Network Service.
