Unanswered: backed up mdb file mystery

I use EMC Retrospect to backup my files. I have never had a problem retrieving and using a backed up file until I tried to use a retrieved mdb file. When I try to copy or rename the retrieved file I get the message:

Cannot copy/rename file name. The file cannot be accessed by the system.

This is not a one-time thing. I have tried it with several different mdb files with the same result. Is there something unique about Access mdb files that causes a problem when they are backed up? I have no trouble with files backed up from within Access.

If you guys can't answer this I will try to contact Retrospect.

    Thanks,

    Charles

that would be my first point of call, after all its their software product that is either detecting the problem or creating the problem
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton

    Clarification of dbm backup problem

Just to clarify: the messages I cited were from the Windows operating system when I tried to rename or copy the retrieved file. Also, the backup was done using no compression.
