Unanswered: "=& FormatCurrency([Prev Yr median close price)"

Report - design view, Field "([Prev Yr median close price])"

This field is based on a query but in report design mode when I select "Properties" no format functions are available.

I've tried a few variations of this "=& FormatCurrency([Prev Yr median close price])" but to no avail.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Desperately seeking answers . . .

The property of the field has a format of Currency.

Alternatively, you can use in the control source of the calculated field =Format([Prev Yr median close price],"currency",2).

Currency is the format and 2 formats the field to 2 decimal places.

    And the result it . . .

When I place your suggestion in the Control Source it returns #Error in the field.

When I place it in the Format section it does this:
    "=For"m"at([Prev "y"r "m\ed"ia"n c"lo"s"e pri"c"e],currency,2)"

I've been on this for two days now. Yikes!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks Smurf

Place =Format([Prev Yr median close price],"currency",2) in the control source do not use "=Format([Prev Yr median close price],"currency",2)"

I have attached a sample database look at the report rpt1.

    Continued Failure

Please see the Properties Tab and Report page attached in pdf format.

I'm losing my mind on this.

Remember, the [Prev Yr median close price] is from a query, however notice on the Properties tab that is shows textbox.

    Could this be the problem?

    Thanks.

In the attached file I have a field called median_price in table tbl_test.

I have modified rpt1 the record source for the form is a query. In the query I have a field median_price, another column Prev Yr median close price: median_price where Prev Yr median close price is an alias for median_price.

Now in the report Raw Data is median_price, Prev Yr median close price is the alias with no formatting, the Currency format is the currency format applied to Prev Yr median close price.

    I can see that . . .

But it fails in my report.

=Format([Prev Yr median close price],"currency",2) placed in the Control Source of the Properties tab for the field still returns #error.

    I'm at a total loss.

I'm not sure I understand the use of alias in this scenario and how it might apply to my problem.

    Thanks Smurf.

I used the alias as an example to show you the process from the raw data to the report. The alias was used to simulate the field that you have coming from the query.

Send me your relevant tables and report and I will try and help you. That way we will be working with the same data etc. I am using Access 2003.
