    Unanswered: Cannot Delete Corrupted Table

When I try to backup or compact and repair my Access 2007 database backend from within Access I get a "Not a Valid Bookmark" message. Since this indicates a corrupted database, I looked through all of the tables likely to be involved and found a table that I cannot open, rename or delete. When I try to do so I get the message" Unrecogized database format "(path to backend)". I can easily recreate the offending table, but cannot replace it for the reasons given above.

I have seen advice on this site to create a blank database and transfer the contents of the offending databse to the blank one (I assume, of course one does not transfer known corrupted items). Is this my only solution to this problem?
