    Unanswered: database replication or backup

Hi. i am working on a project where database is growing very quickly [100MB] daily. i was reading about replication and it is offering much more i needed at the moment.
i am interested in backing up data daily to another server automatically which is my dev machine.

at the moment i use mysqldump to backup to sql file and and then restore from it.

as database size now is 4GB it takes lot of time to backup and restore.

replication looks promising but i have never done that before so i have to give a good reading to use it.

please guide me in right direction

    thanks

use a simple master slave replication, dumps take forever to load.

there is some really easy to follow instructions on the mysql.com webiste

basically you have to add a user on the master, add a little something to your my.cnf's and run the change master command..
