Lightbulb Unanswered: Sybase ASE table fragmentation issues

    Hi Gurus,
Thanks in advance for your time. We are using Sybase ASE 12.5 and have two large tables with each about 4mil rows and indexes defined as well. The problem is that we have a SQL query which joins these two tables taking lot of time to return the data and we noticed that one of these tables get fragmented every day even though the insert/update rows are minimal (<10,000 a day). We defragment it the next day and it gets fragmented again in couple days.
The statistics from UNIX are shown here. the Cluster ratio for one index is very minimal (0.0005).

NAME INDEX TYPE Util.Ratio Clus.Ratio SIZE LOCKING
    Table1 idx_1 non clustered 0.7076 0.4082 6066 DataRows
    Table1 idx_1 non clustered 0.6608 0.4015 6512 DataRows
    Table1 idx_3 non clustered 0.4974 0.0005 8790 DataRows
    Table1 idx_4 non clustered 0.6643 0.3194 6462 DataRows
    Table2 idx_1 non clustered 0.6264 0.2524 3524 DataRows
    Table2 idx_2 non clustered 0.6268 0.2519 3522 DataRows

If any one can throw some light that is highly appreciated

    Thanks much

Didn't you specify any clustered index on these 2 tables ?
Are you using DOL or APL tables ?
