    unforgotton_man,

    beilstwh is right. But notice, that UTL_MAIL is not installed during the standard installation of Oracle because of security concerns.
    In order to get it to work follow these steps:

    - connect as sys as sysdba
    - run the packages $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/utlmail.sql and $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/prvtmail.plb
    and
    - set the smtp_out_server parameter of your DB to your outgoing SMTP server

    Let's assume, the name of your outgoing smtp server is "mgate.myprovider.com" :

    Code:
    $ sqlplus / as sysdba

    SQL> alter system set smtp_out_server='mgate.myprovider.com' scope=both;

    System altered.

    SQL> -- Let's check (it's part of the DBA job description to be paranoid ...)
    SQL> show parameter smtp_out_server

    NAME                            TYPE       VALUE
    ----------------------------    --------   ----------------------
    smtp_out_server                 string     mgate.myprovider.com

    As beilstwh already mentioned,

    UTL_MAIL it's excellently documented:
