Unanswered: Dts package from SQL 2000 to Excel

I just want to see if someone has done this and how they accomplished it.
I'm creating an export from SQL 2000 to Excel based upon a query and having it create a dts package to run each day. The job needs to remove the old data from the Excel file and replace it with the current data. The initial export runs fine however when the job for the Dts package runs the next day it fails. It looks like SQL is trying to treat the Excel file as a table. I have no idea at this point how to get it to either delete and recreate the file or remove the information in the file and replace it with the current data.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Every run of the DTS package should rebuild the XLS file from scratch.

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.

That's what I thought but the job service seems to treat it as a table and fails each time it runs if I manually run the DTS package it seems to work OK.
