Question Unanswered: Table design change in a split database

In Access 2007 I find I need to change a table that has been split into a front end and back end. I get the message I can't make changes to a linked table. How do I make changes to linked tables in a split database? I can create a new table and append the old table into the new one and make the changes. Delete the backend, rename my tables to the old table names and resplit the database. Is there a better way of doing this?

You should be able to get users out of the application, open the back end directly and make your changes. Relink the tables, make whatever corresponding changes are required in the front end and distribute a new front end.

Paul, I have been away from this too long, what an obvious way to work on this!!! I had a mind set that the back end was just data, not an Access data base!! Duh!

No problem. We all get the blinders on now and then.
