Unanswered: data on form NOT writing to the table

I have an unbound listbox with a query attached to it, on the dblclick event It opens a new form and populates fields on the form with the query result fields. here is the code

    Forms!tblName!fieldName = Me!listBoxName.Column(1)

The autonumber field on the table increments like it adds a new record however, when I close the form the new record is abandoned and it does write it to the table?
Any suggestions on how to get the data to commit to the tables?

How are you closing the second form, with a native Access close button (the big X) or with a button that you've created?

Are there controls on the second form that aren't filled in before you close it?
    Hope this helps!

The problem with making anything that fools are so darn ingenious!
