    Unanswered: Replication question

Can I implement the publisher-distributor-subscriber model as publisher to distributer/subscriber with the distribution server on the subscriber server, with the publisher on an active-passive cluster?

    1. I can't put the distribution server on the cluster (not an option)
    2. I don't have a third server for the distribution server

I have only two servers.. OLTP and a requirement for a reporting server.
Table level replication at the column level with filtering will be implemented.

Yes, you can. I did it several years ago on SQL 2000. SQL 2005 (or 2008) should be more flexible.

Yes, using SQL 2008 the publisher, distributor, and subscriber can all be on one machine, all on different machines, or combined in any way that is convenient.

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
