Unanswered: creating a new DB2 Instance on windows

I am testing an upgrade and installed DB2 Connect V 8.2 on a windows server.

I would like to create a second DB2 instance and then test my 9.5 upgrade.

I used the control center an created a new instance but I cannot connect to it.. I get "The instance "DB2_01" does not exist on host "

obviously I am missing something.. can anyone help?

    Hi,

open a command window (or simply run db2cmd).
Enter the command db2ilist. Does it show two instances?

    If yes,
set DB2INSTANCE=DB2_01 (or what other instance is shown)
    db2 get dbm cfg
    db2licm -l
    or any other command ...

DB2ILIST only shows 1 Instance - the default DB2 Instance

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.
